Travel: Panama

So every year, I do an in-country and an out-of-country vacation for a number of reasons. The obvious being for a vacation – duh! The other to just get out and exposure myself to other cultures.

I think a lot of people, me included, get too comfortable in our own space and the thought of and interest in being somewhere different, becomes scary. You start to find yourself uncomfortable with being uncomfortable.

Know what I mean??

My mom pointed that last part out when I was in Atlanta a couple weeks ago and she really hit the nail on the head! People really don’t want to leave their comfort zone. And the thought of being in a country where you can’t get what you’re accustomed to really turns people off.

I don’t know…

When I travel, I want to eat the native food [not the tourist stuff – real native food!] and discover the society…how they celebrate, how they entertain, how they express themselves, the difference ethinicities…all that good shit!

I want to integrate myself in the culture, however brief my interactions may be.

But since I am on vacation – I also like to balance my experience with elements of leisure and luxury…

Spend the day on a native beach for instance. Get drunk in the afternoon on local brew. Dress to the nines and go paint the town red.

Just sayin’ 🙂

Anywhooo – here’s a snapshot of what’s in my suitcase:

  1. This is why I travel, too – it’s one of the best opportunities to experience first-hand what’s out there.

I love your photos and outfit combos. Where are the brown oxfords from? I’ve been looking for shoes exactly like them!

    1. Awww thank you!

I got these shoes a couple years a ago from Aldo but there is an exact pair at a much cheaper price on a site called UrbanOG.

Love your blog by the way! I’ve been hunting for you Boston bloggers 😉

Aw, thanks 🙂 There is a great Boston blogger community out there – I know more of the food-related folks than the lifestyle/fashion bloggers, but I love finding people like you who combine the two!

I look forwarding to following your blog.

Go on, get it out..
