Smoked Paprika Duck

Easter was yesterday and I didn’t do shit but cook this duck and call my mom.

You gotta call your mom on Easter.

Smoked Paprika Duck

What I Used

1 Whole Duckling. 2 tbsp Smoked Paprika. Salt. Pepper.

What I Did

No side dishes, itย was all about the duck this time.

Pre-heat your oven to 375.

Rinse and pat-dry the duck.
Season the outside and inner cavity with salt and pepper.
Generously rub the smoked paprika over the duck, sprinkling some on the inside cavity as well.

Then using a sharp knife, score the fat on the breasts of the duck, a least 3 score marks on either one.
This helps render off the fat when the duck is cooking.
DO NOT skip this.

Put the duck in a baking pan, breasts down, and place in the oven.
Cook for 45 mins then flip so the breasts are up and finish cooking for about 1 hour.
Cooking time may vary so use a cooking thermometer to check doneness.
165F s is theย recommendedย temperature. It should be at least this in the thickest part of the thighs and wings.

And yeah, I’d began carving this before I finished shooting, I was fucking hungry.

Serve with aย sauce if you’d like.
Just make sure it’s a nice reduction one if you do.

  1. Mmmmm… That looks delicious and damn… I kinda feel bad now cuzbit didn’t even cross my mind to call my mom. However, I did see her sisters and nephews does that make up for it?? *shrugs*

  2. I like duck and this recipe looks great however I always get the image in my head of ducks swimming in a pond and whilst I really like the taste, this vision stops me from eating it! Hubby thinks I’m crazy, cos if I like it I should just eat it!

  3. Yummy duck! This looks amazing, I need to come to Boston so I can eat duck with you since no one in my family appreciates it. They have no taste! lol
Have a great week boo ๐Ÿ˜˜

      1. Maybe we can do a Blogger Apartment thing, have you heard of this?
Where are small group of bloggers rent an apartment in a major city and do shoots, dinners, shop etc.

  4. I hate you…
Okay so maybe I don’t but why does EVERYTHING you cook make me want to lick the screen?
    It’s very unbecoming. Urgh!
    Happy [belated] Easter ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Wow, that looks so succulent. I’ve never cooked with duck. Partly because I have this idea in my head that it’s messy and I’m envisioning fat splattering everywhere while it cooks. Do you find that to be the case? Should I get over it because it tastes so delicious that it’s worth the mess?

      1. Oh yes, octopus is another one that intimidates me. I’m afraid of turning into rubber. Well thanks for helping me overcome my fear of cooking duck ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. This duck looks delicious! I always feel like duck is very intimidating. This seems very simple, I think I could tackle this!

Go on, get it out..
