This post was inspired after about an hour of trolling through Instragram.

You go from scrolling through your friends page to some girl doing yoga in a thong to this shit.

Chocolate Coated Watermelon

What I Used

3 bars of white chocolate (or dark chocolate – whatever you prefer). Half a Watermelon. Sea Salt (optional).

What I Did

This is a happy little summer snack and it only takes about 5 mins to make.
Think cookouts.
Think beach snack.

You’re gonna make this at some point this year, I mean who’s kidding who here.

Take the watermelon half and slice it longwise, about 2 inches thick.
Cut each slice into even rectangles.
Set aside.

Break the chocolate bars apart and place in a medium bowl.
Heat the bowl in the microwave for about 40 secs or until the chocolate starts to melt – be careful not to overheat the chocolate or it’ll burn.

When the chocolate is sufficiently melted and still warm, dip the watermelon rectangles into the chocolate and place on parchment paper.

Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on each rectangle.
Serve immediately.

I know I said the sea salt thing was optional but really it’s what makes this whole thing come together so well.

The lightness of the watermelon and the sweetness of the chocolate – the whole thing comes together in this salty-sweet profile that’s so freaking awesome.

    1. Hahahah!!
      It’s easy fun!
Just don’t go too heavy on the salt and have these as soon as the chocolate is on them.
Or the chocolate will harden and it’ll separate from the wetness of the watermelon.
Other than that though, this is pretty freakin awesome 😀

  1. This is such a weird combo! I would never have thought of these three ingredients together, but hey… why not? One has to be daring and try new things! I really wonder how this tastes…

    1. I know right?
You just have to try it, it’s one of those things where it’s really hard to describe.
It’s like a salty sweet popcorn without the crunch if that makes sense?
      Strangely yummy lol

  2. Girrrrlll… I get that shit on scrolling through Instagram and before you know it you have ended up on the 10th page.. Lol… You make the coolest edible beautiful things 😊😊

  3. My tastebuds imagine that the salt really adds something special to this combo. Love the photos. How much time have we all lost from rolling around in Instagram? I would hate to count the hours!

    1. It does add something special, it doessssssss!!
And I’m ashamed to admit that I have often laid in bed knowing good and goddamn well I should be asleep but instead making the CONSCIOUS decision to troll IG.
      I make me sick.

  4. This is 1000 times better than that stupid watermelon “cake” that I see on Pinterest and the like because it’s not pretending to be anything else and it’s bringing salty, sweet, and crisp all to the party. Bravo!

    1. Wait, now I gotta go look up this watermelon cake thing, hang on.

      Oooooohhhhhhhhhhh!!
      Meh.
Isn’t that just red velvet cake with like some pink and green frosting and chocolate chip dots as seeds and shit?
      Meh –
This is way much better – who the hell has the time to make that shit?

  5. I love watermelon and salt, so tasty. Does it last or does the wetness of the watermelon eventually soften the chocolate? Just wondering how far in advance they may be prepared.

    1. Actually it’s the opposite.
You wanna serve this immediately because like all melted chocolate, it will eventually harden and then it’ll risk breaking off from the wet texture of the watermelon.

  6. I love salt! I can never get enough of it. But I especially love sweet and salty dessert. I’ve got to try this because these pictures have me drooling 🙂
